A BURGLAR was arrested after being identified through closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the house he broke into at 7:28 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2025, in Barangay Booy, Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Kareen Escober, chief of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, said the homeowners -- a couple -- noticed their sliding door and kitchen had been damaged upon returning home.

The couple asked not to be named for security reasons.

They said that upon inspecting their belongings, they discovered that cash and several pieces of jewelry were missing. They immediately reviewed their CCTV footage, which clearly showed the suspect’s face committing the crime.

The suspect was identified as Jesus Andal Jr., a resident of the same barangay.

At 10:50 p.m., the couple contacted the Tagbilaran police to report the burglary. Officers from the Theft and Robbery Section quickly responded and launched a manhunt operation using the CCTV footage.

By 12:35 a.m., the suspect was arrested. Police recovered P33,000 in cash and the stolen jewelry.

“Through the vigilance of the victims, the valuable evidence captured by their CCTV, and the rapid, coordinated action of our personnel, we were able to solve this case in a remarkably short span of time. This is a testament to our commitment to providing swift and responsive service — ensuring the safety and peace of every household in Tagbilaran City,” said Escober.

The suspect is currently in police custody and is facing robbery charges. (AYB)
