A SANGGUNIANG Kabataan (SK) Federation president in Argao, southern Cebu, is facing a murder charge after allegedly shooting and killing a man inside a resto-bar in the town late Friday night, July 11, 2025, police said.

Police did not disclose the identity of the SK Federation president from Barangay Lamacan, Argao. However, a quick search on the Argao SK Federation’s Facebook page identifies Mark Alphonsus Villamora as the organization's president.

The suspect was arrested by responding officers of the Argao Municipal Police Station, led by police chief Maj. Janus Giangan, following the incident at around 11:16 p.m. inside the Hide Out Resto Bar in Don Gil, Barangay Poblacion.

The victim was identified as Elmer Angelo Amarillo, a resident of Poblacion.

Initial investigation showed that the suspect arrived at the bar before the confrontation occurred. Witnesses told investigators that the victim was shot in the head and other parts of his body.

Responders from Argao’s Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office rushed the victim to Isidro C. Kintanar Memorial Hospital in Barangay Bogo, but he was declared dead on arrival.

Police recovered a Glock 17 Gen 4 9mm pistol from the suspect, along with an empty magazine. The suspect has a license to own and possess the firearm but does not have a permit to carry it outside his residence.

Investigators said jealousy and a love triangle were the likely motives behind the killing.

A team from the Scene of the Crime Operatives recovered nine spent cartridges, two fired bullets, one deformed slug, and a bullet fragment at the scene. (KAL)
