Shuvee Etrata, dubbed the “Island Ate ng Cebu,” may not have secured a place in the Big Four of PBB: Celebrity Collab Edition, bowing out as the second-to-the-last evictee. But her trajectory is far from over. In fact, many are now calling her “GMA’s rising star.” Here’s how Shuvee began her journey:
Viral and versatile
Raised in Santa Fe, Bantayan Island, Shuvee first gained massive attention through a viral TikTok video showcasing her natural beauty. Though filmed with a low-resolution camera, the video resonated with viewers and quickly spread online. Her presence caught the eye of Sparkle executive Joy Marcelo, and from that moment, the doors of mainstream entertainment began to open for her.
From ice skates to prime time
She later debuted as an actress in “Hearts on Ice,” the Philippines’ first-ever figure skating series. The show offered her a space to transition from social media personality to on-screen talent. Her charm and poise translated well to television but was still humble enough to say that there’s still so much to learn about acting.
Beauty and brains
Before entering showbiz, Shuvee pursued a degree in Physical Therapy at Cebu Doctors’ University. But as the eldest of nine siblings, she carried the weight of financial responsibility for her family. Recognizing that a career in entertainment could help her support them more immediately than a long academic journey, she chose to put her studies on hold and take a leap into the spotlight.
Island-born, pageant-bred
Shuvee also has roots in pageantry. She placed in the Top 7 of Mutya ng Pilipinas Cebu and later represented Bantayan in Hiyas ng Pilipinas 2022. These experiences not only refined her public presence but also gave her a platform to speak on issues close to home, most notably environmental concerns affecting communities. She has since taken part in advocacy events to raise awareness about solid waste pollution.

During her time in the PBB house, Shuvee opened up about her upbringing and the emotional challenges of being a breadwinner. In one particularly moving moment, she received a letter from her estranged father, expressing remorse for past absences.
