VARIOUS tools used to make homemade firearms were seized by members of the 701st Maneuver Company of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion-Central Visayas (RMFB 7) at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025, in Barangay Cahumayan, Danao City, Cebu.
A concerned barangay official surrendered the tools for making firearms to the RMFB 7 personnel in coordination with the Danao City Police Station.
The seized items included three units of bench drill presses, 12 bench vises, eight hacksaws, 130 steel files, three firearm patterns/frames, two barrels, two slides/upper receivers, four magazines, seven grinders, and one portable welding machine.
The confiscated equipment is currently under the custody of RMFB 7 for documentation and disposition.
Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, chief of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7, said the successful seizure of these firearm-making tools in Danao City proves their commitment to cleaning up Central Visayas of loose firearms and stopping gun manufacturing in the city.
He praised his personnel, especially RMFB 7, and commended the barangay officials who responded to his call to cooperate in their strict campaign against illegal firearm manufacturing in the city.
“A safer, gun-free Central Visayas is within reach, and we will get there -- one successful operation at a time,” Maranan said.
Maranan also urged the public to immediately report to the police if they know of anyone making firearms in their area so that authorities can promptly conduct operations. (AYB)
