JAMIE Barnes of Cagayan de Oro carded a 70 on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, to claim his fourth straight title in the boys’ 7-10 category at the ICTSI Apo Golf Junior PGT Championship in Davao City.
Barnes finished with a tournament-best three-under 141 total. Cebu’s Kvan Alburo placed second with a 76 and a 153, while Revilleza settled for third with an 85 and a 156.
“I hit a couple of 9-iron shots that set up birdie chances on Nos. 11 and 12 -- and I made them. On the par-5 13th, I drove it down the middle, hit a 5-wood just short, then chipped close for a tap-in birdie,” explained Barnes, who turns 10 next month. He also topped the Del Monte, Pueblo de Oro, and South Pacific legs.
With 60 points and a perfect four-for-four record, Barnes virtually earned a ticket to The Country Club in October for the ICTSI North vs. South Elite Junior Finals, a Ryder Cup-style showdown featuring the top four players in three age categories from the Luzon and Visayas-Mindanao series.
In the girls’ division, homegrown talent Soleil Molde carded an 81 for a 159 total to clinch her second consecutive title after dominating the Del Monte leg.
Pueblo de Oro leg champion Claren Quiño scored a 73 for a 162 to finish second, followed by Zoey Mascariñas, who tallied 188 after a 95.
“Winning at home is always special – but I really wanted this one, and I thank God for making it happen,” said Molde.
Meanwhile, Brittany Tamayo of South Cotabato won her second straight crown in the girls’ 11-14 category, also disputed over 36 holes.
Tamayo carded a 71 for a 146 total, beating Davaoeña rival Shane Baroquillo, who had a 72 for a 147. Johanna Uyking was third with a 76 for a 156.
“I played better today than yesterday because I stayed focused and didn’t try to force things. I didn’t expect to win -- my opponent (Baroquillo) was really, really good,” said Tamayo, who also ruled the South Pacific leg.
In the boys’ division, Jared Saban fired a 34 on the frontside and closed with a 71 for a seven-shot romp with a 148 total.
Valencia’s Marcus Dueñas carded a 77 for a 155 total, while Mico Woo placed third at 161 after an 83. / PNA
