FIGHTING policeman Jusue Bastillada and former ALA Boy Jess Rhey Waminal battle for the vacant World Boxing Foundation (WBF) featherweight title in the main event of Big Yellow Boxing Promotions’ “Bakbakan Tres” on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Barba Sports Complex in Toledo City.
In Tuesday’s official weigh-in, Bastillada tipped the scales at 125.6 pounds, while Waminal came in slightly heavier at 125.8 pounds.
The 35-year-old Bastillada won the Visayas Professional Boxing Association (Visproba) featherweight strap with an impressive first-round technical knockout of veteran Jason Tinampay last April 11 in Toledo City.
Waminal, meanwhile, hopes to end a four-fight slump, having previously fallen to Chainoi Worawut, Mikito Nakano, Rentaro Kimura, and Reycar Auxilio in his last four bouts.
The 30-year-old Waminal was once one of the promising prospects from the now-defunct ALA Gym. Now, he serves as a litmus test for up-and-coming fighters -- a veteran gatekeeper with grit.
Bastillada is 10-1 with six knockouts, while Waminal is 16-12-1 with nine knockouts.
In the co-main feature, Arlando Senoc Jr. locks horns with Eugene Noynay for the Visproba flyweight title.
Senoc Jr. is 5-0 with four knockouts, while Noynay is 6-1 with a knockout.
Showdowns in the undercard feature Carlo Bacaro (12-1, 8 KOs) vs. Lin Wanxuan (3-1, 1 KO), Rhonvex Capuloy (12-3-3, 9 KOs) vs. Michael Adolfo (6-4, 3 KOs), Mark Anthony Sarino (4-1, 2 KOs) against Enicito Jagopar (2-5, 2 KOs), Ulymark Moras (3-1, 3 KOs) versus Jahmark Gales (2-3, 1 KO), Niño Jay Malbago against Norman Russiana (1-8-2), Jofel Barcoma (1-0, 1 KO) vs. Mark Asibal (1-0, 1 KO), and John Dominic Ledres (1-2, 1 KO) vs. Nathaniel Doria (0-1). / EKA
