
BATCH 2004-The Win completed a sweep of its Division B elimination round games with a hard-fought 85-76 victory over 2011-Onses in the ongoing Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (SHAABAA) Season 28 last Sunday, June 29, 2025, at the Magis Eagles Arena in Mandaue City.
Kylle Valmoria exploded with 27 points and seven rebounds, while Ervin Lopena and Jedd Ryan Go added 20 and 18 points, respectively, as Batch 2004 wrapped up the elimination phase with a perfect 10-0 record.
Under the guidance of multi-titled coach Gary Cortes, The Win controlled the game and posted their largest lead at 62-44 in the third quarter. They also showcased their strength in transition with a 21-9 edge in fastbreak points and outplayed the Onses in the paint, 42-34.
Van Alicias tallied 22 points and Kiefer Lim scored 17 for the Onses, who finished with a 3-7 record in the eliminations.
The Win’s perfect run secured them a direct semifinals berth, joining 2005-Insular Square (9-1), who easily defeated 2006-Subtero, 64-54.
Despite the loss, Subtero (5-4), currently in fifth place, still has a chance to advance to the semifinals. However, they will face a tougher road ahead as they need to win in the play-in round, where the No. 3 team will go up against No. 6 and the No. 4 team will play versus No. 5 for a spot in the semis.
Meanwhile, 2010-ZLREJ solidified their hold of second place (7-2) after crushing the 2012 Golden Dragons (3-7), 90-39. Charles Divinagracia scored 25 points for ZLREJ, who also got a monster 20-point, 20-rebound performance from Jasper Diaz.
In other Division B games, 2K Core Pacific (3-7) edged 2K Cares.Org 96-94 and 2012-Harley Davidson also impressively completed their elimination phase with a 91-75 win against Magis Medical Funds.
Harley Davidson is currently in fourth place with a 7-3 record and is likely to face Subtero in the play-in tournament.
Meanwhile, Chaz Cokaliong chalked up 38 points to power 2015-House of Imperial to a 116-50 triumph over 2023-Kaway in Division C.
Lorenzo Miguel Otero and Irvin Dwight Dumo added 14 and 13 points, respectively, as House of Imperial remained undefeated with a 6-0 record.
2013-Nest Workspaces ended the eliminations at third place with a 4-3 record after defeating 2025-LPG, 76-57.
In the other Division C matchup, erstwhile winless 2020-BYD (1-6) pulled off a dramatic upset over 2021-Fadi, 74-69, before bowing out of contention. Fadi (3-3) still has a chance to reach the semis via the play-in route.
