BisayaFlix, the pioneering streaming platform based in Cebu City and dedicated to VisMin-focused content, is taking a bold step beyond digital entertainment with its upcoming “Creative Arts Workshop Series.”
Happening from May 25 to 29, 2025, at Lapu-Lapu Cebu International College, this five-day event promises to be a transformative experience for aspiring artists in the region.
Established mentors
One of the biggest draws of the workshop is its star-studded roster of mentors, all renowned figures in the entertainment field. Participants will have the chance to train with Apple Abaquin, a Pinoy Dream Academy alumna, who will lead the singing module. Direk Rhayan Carlos, a highly respected film and TV director and the only accredited Chubbuck Technique coach in the Philippines, will guide actors.
Monica Vercide, a Knapsack Director & Partner, will teach aspiring dancers, while Eric Ramos, a FAMAS and MMFF Best Screenplay awardee known for works like “Mamasapano” and “Rainbow’s Sunset,” will lead the scriptwriting track.
Rounding out the impressive lineup is Gianfranco Morciano, an indie filmmaker and director for GMA and TV5, who will mentor participants in directing.
Specialized tracks
The workshop is designed with various specialized tracks to cater to a wide range of creative interests. Participants can choose from modules like the All-In Experience, Performing Arts Complete, Film Plus (Scriptwriting & Directing) or a Singing & Acting Combo. These tracks will allow participants to immerse themselves in their chosen discipline, learning from some of the most accomplished mentors in their fields.
Creative circle
For BisayaFlix, this workshop is not just a one-time event but part of a larger mission to provide continuous support for local talent. “This is more than just a workshop,” said Elcid Camacho, chief executive officer of BisayaFlix. “This is an outlet for Bisaya talents. We want to explore and nurture our own.”
Beyond the training, this workshop series also offers valuable networking opportunities for participants to connect with fellow creatives. It’s a chance to collaborate, share ideas and build lasting relationships with others in the entertainment community.
BisayaFlix believes that VisMin talents no longer need to travel to Manila to compete in an oversaturated entertainment scene. The platform is committed to providing local artists with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive in their own regions.
Limited slots are available, so aspiring artists are encouraged to sign up soon via the BisayaFlix Facebook page to secure their spot and receive the official venue announcement.
