THE Mandaue City Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) has intensified inspections of local businesses following the deadline for business permit renewal on Jan. 31, 2025.

The BPLO Inspection Team, in coordination with other government agencies, has been conducting site visits to ensure compliance with business regulations and issue penalties to non-compliant establishments.

BPLO head inspector Walter Shane Lumbre previously said inspections would begin in the third week of February.

Upholding local laws

In a Facebook post dated Feb. 6, BPLO reiterated that these inspections are part of the City’s ongoing efforts to uphold local laws and ensure businesses operate within legal parameters.

It said that routine checks help maintain transparency and prevent unauthorized business operations.

The BPLO said the inspections will continue throughout the year, urging all business owners to secure the necessary permits and clearances to avoid penalties.

Businesses found operating without valid permits could face fines, penalties, cease-and-desist order and potential closure.

Authorities urged business owners to prepare their updated business permits and clearances to avoid sanctions. / CAV
