Go vows to support licensed real estate sellers vs. ‘colorum’

THE Accredited Real Estate Salespersons of the Philippines (ACRES) is now working closely with the office of Sen. Christopher “Bong” Go to promote responsible marketing in the real estate industry.

An ACRES-organized summit was held in Davao City last August 2023 where Go expressed his support to help the industry fight the proliferation of “colorum” or unlicensed real estate professionals and developers across the country.

The event had the theme ‘Responsible Real Estate Marketing: Accurate Representation for Sustainable Public Trust.’

The real estate sector holds a pivotal role in contributing to the country’s economy. Go recognized the need for more ethical practices and accurate representation to build public trust.

Go is a member of the Senate Committee on Urban Planning, Housing, and Resettlement.

Anthony Gerard Leuterio, founder of A Better Real Estate Philippines, the mother organization of ACRES, welcomed Go’s support as “timely.”

Leuterio said the organization fully commits to protect the plight of licensed real estate salespersons to ensure the continued growth of the industry as 80 percent of real estate sales is closed by a licensed sales person.

Leuterio said there are around 50,000 unlicensed real estate salespersons in the country.

Overseas Filipino workers are the top buyers of real estate properties with a P700 billion market value a year.

He hopes that Go’s promise to support the sector would result in legislative measures aimed at strengthening the current laws and regulations governing the real estate practice.

Early this year, Go also promised to help ACRES in its call to amend some of the outdated provisions of the Real Estate Service Act of 2009 or the Resa Law.

ACRES described some provisions of the Resa Law to be “anti-poor, anti-Pinoy and anti-technology.”

The group wants the law to offer equal opportunities to Filipinos, especially since real estate selling is a skill that can be learned by anyone regardless of educational attainment.
