In recognition of the company’s investments in the countryside that brought about socioeconomic development, inclusive growth and digital transformation, Lexmark Research and Development Corp. (Lexmark Cebu) received the 2018 Industry Locator Countryside Champion Award at the 10th National ICT Confederation of the Philippines Summit.

Lexmark Cebu was the only company awardee based outside Manila given the award.

“I would like to personally thank all our Cebu employees for their hard work and dedication in the past 17 years since we started our operations in Cebu. This award echoes our thrust for innovation and excellence in everything that we do every day,” said Elena Palacios, president and chief executive officer of Lexmark Cebu. “Our dynamic collaboration with our partners, most especially CIB.O, is one that we are grateful to have. This further motivates us to continue to be the best in the Philippines and in Asia.”

The Cebu IT-BPM.Organization (CIB.O) was also awarded as Countryside Champion among the country’s information and communications technology councils.

The summit was held in Naga City, Bicol last week.

The award was given by the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP), the national umbrella organization of all 70 ICT councils in the Philippines operating in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao, linking provinces and cities to the world.

The ICT councils are composed of stakeholders from business and industry, government, the academe, and human resource sector, working together to promote their respective locations as investment destinations for ICT-related industries and jobs.

The summit is a key IT/BPM conference and exhibitors’ event organized by the NICP, in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). This annual event, which began in 2008, gathers the country’s ICT community to work for ICT innovation and collaboration.

This year’s theme, “A Decade of Inclusive Countryside Development: Managing Digital Transformation Driven by Disruptive Technologies,” showcases NICP’s 10 years as a champion for ICT countryside development. It encapsulates a decade of creating strategies and transforming Philippine cities and provinces into digital hubs for employment, investments and entrepreneurial opportunities. / PR
