Over 8K MSMEs benefit from barangay-based program

THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 has assisted more than 39,000 individuals and 8,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its Livelihood Seeding Program – Negosyo Serbisyo Sa Barangay (LSP-NSB).

Based on its latest figures, DTI 7 provided information on various livelihood opportunities to 39,104 individuals and assisted 8,875 MSMEs after it conducted a series of activities to support and develop local businesses in the region since September 2020.

The agency also mounted 410 entrepreneurship training sessions in 1,296 barangays. It also conducted Negosyo cliniquing to 2,474 MSMEs and distributed 2, 287 livelihood kits.

The LSP-NSB is a program that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnerships between relevant local government units (LGU) and the DTI.

The objective of the program is to increase the awareness of barangay officials about the services offered by DTI through the Negosyo Centers.

LSP-NSB conducts business development assistance and/or services and awards provision of individual package of livelihood kits amounting to P5,000 to P8,000 that contain items that could aid qualified individuals to restore and improve their businesses in case of catastrophic events like natural and human-induced calamities including health disasters like epidemics and pandemics.

Services offered by the program include the facilitation of business registration, business name, barangay micro business enterprise registration, barangay clearances and registration with LGU, Securities and Exchange Commission and Cooperative Development Authority,

It also provides business counseling, product development, financing facilitation, market/business matching, trade promotion and investment promotions. (JOB)
