RideHero adds contact tracing app, new features

RIDEHERO, a mobile app designed for public commuters, has recently added new features to help the local government contain the community transmission of Covid-19 as the three key cities in the province are already in a relaxed community quarantine status.

These new features are the online and automatic passenger manifest or a list of coded passenger list for contact tracing purposes, trips history of the buses, speed information, bus real-time location and local government unit (LGU) command center, among others.

The LGU command center is designed to monitor the feedback and reports of the citizens.

Besides the contact tracing capability, RideHero is also planning to link with the Department of Health and other LGUs to exchange essential information on contact tracing.

Developed in Cebu City, the app helps commuters by showing them the location and capacity of buses plying the streets.

It also shows both the names of drivers and passengers and the location of each bus within the routes.

Michael Cubos, RideHero founder and chief executive officer, said they will continue to create programs that would offer solutions for fleet management, especially for transport cooperatives and organizations to manage their buses more efficiently, particularly during this new normal business landscape.

The RideHero app is available in both Android and iOS platforms.

On March 24, Cubos and mobile app developer Brian Mueller introduced the app to the Cebu City government to help commuters trace the location and capacity of buses that the City Government deployed for free rides during the community quarantine. / KOC
