FROM the account of SPO1 Adonis Dumpit's live-in partner, one Ma. Ella Amores, the last words of the slain police officer were to her, saying goodbye and promising to return for lunch.

-- "Adto na ko, love."

-- Sigi amping, diri ka maniudto."

-- "Mobalik lang ko."

Dumpit did not. He was killed at the Dagohoy circumferential road, about 200 meters from his house in Lindaville Subdivision where he and his common-law wife lived. It is in Barangay San Isidro, Tagbilaran City.

Dumpit had a wife, Josephine, from whom he was separated.

Dumpit's cat

The Bohol papers reported that Dumpit and his partner had lived in San Isidro for over two years. The Bohol Chronicle, citing Barangay Captain Fausto "Bebot" Budong as source. Dumpit however was reassigned back to Bohol only last June 14, two weeks or so before he was killed last Wednesday, June 27.

Dumpit though had a previous stint in Bohol from August 2016, when he was pulled out from Mayor Tomas Osmeña's security detail, until he was ordered back to Cebu City two months later, in October, reportedly on request of Councilor Dave Tumulak.

Barangay chief Budong said he had received complaints about Dumpit having fired his gun after his cat was run over and killed by a vehicle and alleged harassment of residents.

What brought NBI in

Bohol NBI Provincial Director Atty. Renan Oliva said a complaint endorsed by the Bohol PNP province office was what prompted their entry into the case.

Dumpit allegedly asked for the downgrading of the charge against one Sergio Tajanlangit, allegedly a pusher under the cop's wing, from selling to possession, which is bailable. The Bohol police apparently found it troubling to deal with Dumpit, a feared cop.

Oliva said the NBI started tailing Dumpit last June 19, ending with the "clash" on June 27.

Suspect in 'Tongol' death

Dumpit was a suspect in the June 2005 killing of Joel "Tongol" Nadalo inside a cockpit in Aslucan, Buenavista Bohol, the Bohol Tribune has reported.

What was Dumpit doing in Bohol when he was not yet assigned there at the time? Whatever, the cop and another Cebu City police officer, the head then of the city's intelligence division, were linked to Tongol's death. Both cops denied the allegation and had not been prosecuted.
