A JOB order worker of the Municipal Government of Calape, Bohol was arrested during a buy-bust operation conducted at 7:03 p.m. Saturday, April 12, 2025, in Purok 1, Barangay Manga, Tagbilaran City.
The suspect was identified as Elwin Paredes, alias "Wengweng," 49, a resident of Purok 4, Barangay Calunasan, Calape town.
Members of the City Drug Enforcement Team of the Tagbilaran City Police Station, led by its chief, Police Lieutenant Colonel John Kareen Oliveros Escober, confiscated a bulk package of shabu weighing 550 grams, with an estimated street value of P3,740,000.
According to Escober, Paredes is a newly identified drug personality based on their monitoring. He had been under surveillance for three weeks after they received information that he was selling illegal drugs.
His distribution area reportedly covers the entire town of Calape and neighboring towns leading to Tagbilaran City.
Paredes' arrest is part of the police’s ongoing “Oplan Limpyo Tagbilaran,” the flagship program of the Tagbilaran City Police Station.
It is also part of the relentless drive under the peace and order formula of Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan, chief of the Central Visayas police, which focuses on aggressive operations against crime while engaging with the community.
“Kini nga kalampusan nagpakita nga seryoso ang kapulisan sa pagpakigbatok sa iligal nga druga. Uban ang suporta sa atong LGU ug sa katawhan, padayon ang Oplan Limpyo Tagbilaran sa pagtukod og malinawon ug luwas nga siyudad,” Escober said.
(This success shows the police's seriousness in the fight against illegal drugs. With the support of our LGU and the people, Oplan Limpyo Tagbilaran will continue in building a peaceful and safe city.)
Escober added that they will continue to closely monitor incoming drug players in the city.
Paredes has revealed some information during the investigation, which may lead to a follow-up operation, according to Escober. (AYB)
