THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted security simulations Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Cebu City Hall to prepare for the upcoming national and local elections in May.

The drills, done 16 days before Election Day, focused on potential threats such as bomb scares, hostage situations, civil unrest and protests.

Cebu City Hall is designated as the lead canvassing site for the May 2025 polls, according to the CCPO in a statement on its Facebook page.

One exercise simulated a complex scenario involving a hostage-taking concurrent with civil disorder and a bomb threat.

Police Regional Office 7 Director Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan supervised the simulations, which aimed to test the operational readiness of the police force.

The CCPO said it is working with other local government agencies and partner organizations to ensure public safety during the entire election period. These efforts include increasing police visibility and enhancing patrols as part of community policing strategies.

Acting CCPO Director COL. Enrico Figueroa assured the public of the police’s commitment to maintaining peace and order throughout the city. / KAL, PR
