THE chartered flight service connecting mainland Cebu and Bantayan Island has been suspended until further notice, just eight months after it was launched.

King Aces Travel and Tours Service Inc. (Kattsi), operator of the flight between Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City and Bantayan Island Airport, issued an advisory on Saturday, May 3, 2025, announcing the cessation of the route.

“We regret that we can no longer service our clients for this route,” Kattsi said in an advisory posted on its Facebook page.

The advisory did not specify the reasons behind the suspension, stating only that the airline is undergoing an operational pause.

Kattsi also wrote in the comment section of the said advisory that it remains unclear whether services will resume.

Kattsi, a travel and tour operator, initiated the regular chartered flights between Mactan-Cebu International Airport in Lapu-Lapu City and Bantayan Island Airport on Aug. 24, 2024.

The service was intended to cut down the typical four- to five-hour journey by land and sea from Cebu City on the mainland to Santa Fe town on Bantayan Island to a mere 30 minutes by air.

The initiative was spearheaded by Kattsi, a subsidiary of ACDI Multipurpose Cooperative, which serves members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

The advisory provided no timeline for the potential resumption of the Cebu-Bantayan flight service. Affected passengers are encouraged to contact Kattsi for alternative travel options and further information. / EHP
