
JAN Jamon scattered 18 points, including three triples, as the Cebu Classic dominated Quezon City Toda Aksiyon, 69-54, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) 2025 Season at the Paco Arena in Manila, on Monday, April 14.
The victory was the Classics third in seven games, while the defeat dropped Quezon City to a 2-5 record.
Cebu Classic started slowly, trailing 12-19 after the first quarter. However, their offense began heating up in the second quarter, fueled by Jamon’s three-pointer that chopped down the deficit to 24-28 with 3:59 remaining in the half.
Ladis Lepalam added three successive free throws, following John Jabonite’s layup to tie the score at 30-all with 55 seconds left in the second quarter.
Despite the rally, Quezon City retained a slim 32-31 lead at halftime, thanks to Vincent Gregg Cunanan’s layup.
Then the momentum shifted in the third quarter as Dennis Santos, Limuel Tampus, and Mike Delos Santos joined Jamon in a scoring spree that propelled Cebu Classic to a 44-35 lead with 5:10 remaining.
From thereon, Cebu Classic maintained their offensive and defensive intensity, forcing Quezon City to commit numerous turnovers down the stretch.
Santos finished with 10 points, while Lepalam and Tampus contributed nine and seven points, respectively.
For Quezon City, Jerome Santos led with 10 points, while Nino Ibañez added nine notches.
