IN LINE with the opening of the 456th founding anniversary celebration of the Province of Cebu, the “Tabo sa Kapitolyo” was also launched on Monday, August 4, 2025.
The event featured around 80 exhibitors from 51 local government units (LGUs) -- including Cebu City -- and 31 private exhibitors from Cebu.
Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro expressed her joy over the unity among localities and encouraged the public to visit and support the local products.
“Sus! Daghan kaayu ta’g produkto nga angay nato i-promote to international market and I have seen a few nga promising kaayo and I will do my best to promote it,” Baricuatro said on Monday.
(Sus! We have so many products that deserve to be promoted to the international market, and I’ve seen a few that are very promising. I will do my best to promote them.)
As part of the initiative, LGUs and private exhibitors are given the opportunity to display their delicacies and other products until the weekend.
Private exhibitors are paying P2,500 for non-food booth spaces and P3,000 for food-related stalls.
Among all localities, only the town of Dumanjug was unable to join this year, to the disappointment of many who were looking forward to their popular native chicken dish, the “bisnok.”
Meanwhile, Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco also called on the public to give the new administration a chance to showcase its service.
“I think moving forward, importante kaayo ang concrete steps nga ma-improve unsay kinahanglan nga ma-improve, mahimo unsay kinahanglan nga mahimo, ug mapadayon kon unsay maayong mapadayon alang sa mga Sugboanon sa Sugbo," Soco said.
(I think moving forward, it’s very important to take concrete steps to improve what needs to be improved, accomplish what needs to be done, and sustain what’s good for the Cebuanos of Cebu.)
Aside from the Tabo, the Agri-Konek Food Summit 2025 was also held on the same day, gathering various agricultural sectors, including farmers and stakeholders, to address concerns and solutions aimed at boosting Cebu’s agriculture industry.
The anniversary celebration also includes various programs such as a caravan of services and employee treats, among others. (ANV)
