BUDGET carrier Cebu Pacific flew 2.2 million passengers in June 2025, up 7.9 percent from the same month last year, as the country’s leading airline reached a historic milestone—becoming the first Philippine carrier to operate a 100-aircraft fleet.

In a statement, the milestone was marked by the arrival of its latest aircraft, a brand new 459-seater Airbus A330neo, delivered from Airbus’ facility in Toulouse, France.

This is the second of four A330neos expected to be delivered this year, with seven new aircraft scheduled for 2025. Cebu Pacific currently operates 12 A330neos, making it the largest operator of the aircraft type in the Asia Pacific region.

“Reaching 100 aircraft is more than a milestone — it reflects our unwavering commitment to make air travel accessible to more Filipinos,” said Xander Lao, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer. “With a larger fleet, we’re able to operate more efficiently, enhance connectivity across the country and the region and pass on the benefits of scale through even lower fares.”

In the first half of 2025, the airline transported 13.9 million passengers, a 21 percent increase from 11.5 million during the same period last year, reflecting sustained demand across its domestic and international routes.

The fuel-efficient A330neo aircraft will support Cebu Pacific’s operations on high-demand and long-haul routes, helping optimize costs while reducing carbon emissions. The NEO (New Engine Option) series burns up to 25 percent less fuel and generates less noise compared to older-generation aircraft.

Cebu Pacific operates one of the youngest fleets in the world, composed of 12 Airbus A330s, 40 Airbus A320s, 26 Airbus A321s and 22 ATR turboprops, enabling the widest domestic network coverage in the Philippines. / KOC
