WITH the Philippines’ real estate and construction sectors experiencing a renewed surge, an upcoming construction expo is aligning itself with market demands by showcasing sustainable building technologies and solutions.

The CebuCon Build Expo, which runs from June 5 to 8, 2025, at SM Seaside Cebu, will bring together over 100 exhibitors, including suppliers, developers and industry stakeholders, to address growing interest in environmentally responsible construction practices. The event comes at a time when developers are no ramping up residential, vertical housing and mixed-use projects across key urban centers.

The expo is organized by L.A. Ducut Abais Innovations Inc., in coordination with Cebu Hardware Consolidated Inc., and supported by groups such as the United Architects of the Philippines, the Philippine Association of Real Estate Boards and the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The four-day exhibition will feature the latest in eco-friendly construction materials, energy-efficient systems, modular building technologies and digital infrastructure solutions geared toward sustainable development.

“We are witnessing a significant increase in Cebu-based and VisMin exhibitors—particularly homegrown suppliers who are now leveraging this expo to tap into larger domestic markets,” said Lilibeth Ducut-Abais, director for Events and Special Projects.

This edition also marks CebuCon’s 30th anniversary, a milestone for one of Cebu’s pioneering events in the meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions industry. According to Lilibeth, this year’s theme centers on sustainable construction and next-generation building technologies—a direct response to the evolving demands of the Philippine real estate and infrastructure sectors.

“Real estate growth in the region continues to climb, especially with the rise of mid- to high-rise condominium developments and residential communities. Our goal this year is to highlight how the industry can meet this demand while staying true to principles of sustainability and innovation,” she added.

According to data from property analysts, the post-pandemic real estate recovery has led to increased construction activity, particularly in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, where urbanization and infrastructure investments are driving demand.

Developers are also responding to evolving buyer preferences, with more end-users and investors prioritizing eco-conscious features such as solar-ready rooftops, water-saving systems and green open spaces, according to project director Bedevere Joseph Abais.

“There’s a noticeable pivot towards green building solutions, solar energy systems and eco-friendly construction materials. These align with the rising consumer preference for sustainable residential units and with national development goals,” said Bedevere.

The construction sector posted a 10.3 percent full-year growth in 2024. Under President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s ‘Build Better More’ infrastructure agenda, the government continues to invest in roads, bridges, transport systems, internet connectivity and energy facilities. / KOC
