EIGHTEEN micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from Central Visayas participated in the recently concluded International Food Exhibition (Ifex) Philippines 2025, held from May 22 to 24, at the World Trade Center Metro Manila.
The delegation also included two coconut exporters supported by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) 7 under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan, aiming to introduce their products to the global market.
Organized by the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (Citem), Ifex Philippines is the country’s largest business-to-business and export-oriented international trade show for food, beverage and ingredients. The 18th edition of the expo featured over 500 food exhibitors, bringing together major food industry players from around the world.
During the opening day, Citem executive director Leah Pulido Ocampo called on both private and public sector allies in the food industry to collaborate in addressing current trade challenges. She emphasized the need for agile responses through policies and responsive programs, expressing confidence in the country’s ability to adapt and persevere amid evolving local and international trade landscapes.
Ocampo also highlighted plans to establish permanent showrooms in the first quarter of 2026. These showrooms will serve as marketing platforms for MSMEs from all 17 regions of the Philippines, facilitating activities such as market testing, product development and business-to-business transactions with domestic and foreign buyers.
The participation of Central Visayas MSMEs in Ifex Philippines 2025 underscores the region’s commitment to promoting local products and expanding their reach in the global market. / KOC
