FOLLOWING the recent deaths of two well-loved campus cats at Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) in Cebu City, students are raising concerns and calling for a thorough investigation.

Bruno, who was reportedly struck by a vehicle on April 3, 2025, was the first to pass, followed just days later by Garfield, who tragically died after falling from a height. The back-to-back incidents have sparked conversations around animal safety on campus and left many in the CIT-U community mourning.

In a Facebook post by the page Garfield the Wildcat on Saturday, April 12, netizens voiced suspicion over the circumstances of the cats’ deaths. Several commenters urged the university to release CCTV footage to help shed light on what truly happened.

The loss of Bruno and Garfield has caused visible grief among students, many of whom had grown attached to the cats as unofficial campus companions.

Garfield will be laid to rest today at 4:00 PM in front of CIT-U’s Alumni Affairs Office. (DPC)
