THE Cebu Orthopaedic Institute (COI) will hold the 2025 COI Run on June 15 at Pescadores Road in Cebu Business Park.

Following the success of last year’s silver anniversary run, organizers anticipate 1,500 to 2,000 runners participating this year.

The event was officially launched on Thursday, May 22, at Casino Español, where COI president Dr. Jose Flordeliz emphasized the race’s deeper mission beyond the finish line.

“This project isn’t for profit — it’s about raising funds for our outreach efforts,” said Flordeliz. “We’re promoting our advocacy not only through our work as orthopaedic specialists but also by encouraging sports and healthy living.”

Several key COI members attended the launch, including Drs. Jose Antonio San Juan, Hester Renel Palma, Leopoldo Jiao III, Miguel Go, Paula Veronica Reyes Palma, Viennah Magcalas, Ken Magcalas, and Philip Barlaan.

COI is a group of orthopaedists specializing in sports medicine, pediatrics, spine and joint surgery, and hand reconstruction. It is widely recognized for providing free and discounted medical services to underserved communities across Cebu and the Visayas.

The annual COI Run serves as a vital fundraising effort to support these outreach programs and charitable services.

This year’s run will also benefit the Missionaries of the Poor, specifically aiding children with physical and mental disabilities. Additional proceeds will be distributed to medical organizations aligned with COI’s mission of promoting community health.

The event features a 21K half marathon, 12K, 6K, and 3K categories. Technical support will be provided by veteran race director Joel Juarez of Coco Running.

Winners will receive cash prizes, while registered participants will get raffle entries and have a chance to win exciting prizes, such as a brand-new motorcycle, two window-type air conditioning units, a water dispenser,

and more.
