THE Office of the City Prosecutor in Quezon City has dismissed the complaint for acts of lasciviousness and gender-based harassment filed by GMA News reporter Athena Imperial against her former colleague, reporter Nico Waje.
Nico’s wife, Leinel Waje, confirmed the development to GMA News on Aug. 17, 2026, by presenting a copy of the resolution dismissing the complaint.
“We are pleased that, after due proceedings, Mr. Waje has been fully vindicated of these charges. We are likewise grateful for the prompt and judicious resolution of the honorable public prosecutor.”
“We remain hopeful that any other pending matters will be resolved accordingly,” Nico’s legal counsel said in a message to GMA News.
On June 19, Nico formally submitted his counter-affidavit, saying he was prepared to respond to all of Athena’s allegations because he had done nothing wrong.
As of press time, Aug. 21, Athena has yet to comment on the dismissal of her complaint. / TRC S
