A CONSTRUCTION worker was arrested in a buy-bust conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)–Negros Oriental Provincial Office, with the support of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office and Dumaguete City Police Station, at 10:46 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2025, in Caritas II, Barangay Bajumpandan, Dumaguete City.

The suspect was identified as alias Jonas, 35, a construction worker residing in the same area and listed as a provincial target by PDEA.

The PDEA seized seven sachets of shabu weighing one gram, with an estimated average market value of P6,800, along with drug paraphernalia.

According to Leia Alcantara, PDEA-Central Visayas’ information officer, the suspect underwent a week-long case buildup and was reportedly capable of selling 16 grams of shabu per week.

The confiscated evidence was turned over to the Philippine National Police Negros Oriental Forensic Unit for chemical analysis.

The suspect will face charges for violating Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165. (AYB)
