CORDOVA Mayor Cesar “Didoy” Suan is working to complete the town’s own hospital. This initiative aligns with Gov. Pamela Baricuatro’s promise to provide assistance and help patients in the area.

According to Suan, construction of the building began long ago. However, staffing, equipment and other necessities to operate have yet to be addressed.

“Sa nahisgutan ni Governor Pam, since mao iyang priority ang health, niana siya sa akoa nga she will really help, so bisitaon niya unya kuyog ang iyang anak nga doktora kay maoy motan-aw on how we will rehabilitate or improve aron magamit and can start as an infirmary,” he told reporters on Monday, Aug. 4, 2025.

(As Governor Pam mentioned, since health is her priority, she told me that she will really help, so she will visit later with her daughter, who is a doctor, to see how we will rehabilitate or improve it so it can be used and can start as an infirmary.)

Suan explained that the building lacks certain requirements, causing delays in its implementation.

“Karon, gitrabaho na sab na nga naa nay drainage, semento na, hopefully this month mahuman siya with the help of Governor Pam,” he said.

(Now, work is being done on it, there’s already drainage, it’s already concreted, hopefully this month it will be finished with the help of Governor Pam.)

Currently, patients in Cordova go to the Cebu South Medical Center (CSMC) in Talisay City to seek medical help.

“Karon wala gyud tay hospital, although taud-taud na nga nahuman ang building. But due to the concern nga natukod ang building without any road right-of-way, when I assumed as mayor mao nay atong gi-priority pod,” Suan said.

(Right now, we don’t have a hospital, although the building has been finished for some time, but due to the concern that the building was constructed without any road right-of-way, so when I assumed as mayor, that’s what we prioritized.)

However, he explained that even if Talisay City is far, the ambulance’s passage through the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway will greatly help in transporting patients quickly. / ANV
