
THE Lapu-Lapu City Council has approved the nearly P738 million budget requested by the executive department to fund the City’s Supplemental Annual Investment Program (AIP) for 2025.
Under the AIP, allocations include P676 million for the General Fund, P11 million for the Development Fund, and over P51 million to enhance hospital operations.
Councilor Annabeth Cuizon, chair of the committee on finance, told SunStar Cebu on Wednesday, May 28, that the council approved the supplemental AIP during its regular session.
The supplemental AIP document shows that of the P676,149,734 allocated for general funds, general services will receive P323,661,334; social services, P200,142,000; and economic services, P152,346,400.
A total of P51,138,400 has been allocated for hospital operations to fund improvements and cover expenses in both mainland and island barangays.
Of this, P48,738,400 will be for the Lapu-Lapu City District Hospital in Barangay Gun-ob, Lapu-Lapu City.
The funds will be used to pay for a P16.3 million x-ray machine, P10 million for medicines targeting non-communicable diseases, and P7 million for anti-rabies vaccines and medication, among others.
Additionally, P2.4 million is intended for general services and improvements at the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital on Olango Island, completing the P51 million allocation.
Meanwhile, the P11 million development fund under environmental services has been designated for the installation of a drainage system in Barangay Poblacion.
Cuizon said Supplemental Budget 1, which will appropriate the approved funds, is scheduled for deliberation during the Council’s next session this June. / DPC
