AMID the rising dengue cases announced by the Department of Health, PhilHealth is reminding the Filipino public about the benefit package available for dengue patients. The package offers improved coverage for both severe and mild cases of the disease.
For severe dengue cases, the coverage has significantly increased from the previous P16,000 to a much higher amount of P47,000.
The adjustment is in line with PhilHealth’s continued effort to improve health insurance coverage for its members.
On the other hand, mild dengue cases will now receive P19,500 in coverage, up from the previous amount of P10,000.
These adjustments reflect the enhancement and rationalization of PhilHealth’s benefit packages, which were undertaken last year under the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr., to ensure better health insurance coverage for members in need of medical treatment.
The new benefit rates for dengue treatment are a result of PhilHealth’s commitment to provide more comprehensive coverage for its members.
While the hospitalization costs are covered, PhilHealth President and CEO Edwin Mercado emphasized the importance of prevention and early intervention.
He urged the public to seek medical consultation at the earliest signs of dengue which include high fever, severe headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint pain, nausea, vomiting, and skin rash.
“If you feel symptoms of dengue or any illness, go immediately to your chosen Konsulta Package Provider. The Konsulta Package is immediately available to all members and their dependents. It’s free of charge,” Mercado said in Tagalog.
This reminder highlights that every PhilHealth member, along with their dependents, can immediately avail of the Konsulta Package, which offers medical consultations at no cost. /CAV, PR
