TO SUPPORT its planned upgrade to a level 1 medical facility, Daanbantayan District Hospital broke ground on a P22.4-million infrastructure package on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2026.
Meanwhile, the Cebu Provincial Government deployed a new mammogram machine and pledged P13.4 million for infrastructure repairs at the Cebu Provincial Hospital–Bogo City (CPH-Bogo).
In a statement from Cebu Province Public Information Facebook page, the inauguration led by Gov. Pamela Baricuatro alongside local officials and Capitol Health Consultant Dr. Nikki Catalan, the Daanbantayan expansion targets key structural additions.
The development includes new buildings for the outpatient department and pharmacy, dietary services, linen and laundry, hazardous waste storage, a morgue, and an ambulance parking bay.
It also funds repairs to the emergency room, laboratory, radiology unit, business office complex, and perimeter fence.
New machine
Originally operating as a 10-bed infirmary before expanding to 22 beds in June 2025, the facility aims to achieve Level 1 status to enable minor surgical procedures and end persistent local supply shortages.
Meanwhile, the new mammogram machine at CPH-Bogo enhances the hospital’s capacity for early detection of breast tumors, cysts, and potential cancer signs.
This installation complements recent acquisitions of specialized medical equipment, including a laparoscopy machine, C-arm imaging system, anesthesia machines, and electrocardiogram units.
The allocated P13.4-million repair fund was announced during a concurrent medical and dental mission, where officials also confirmed that CPH-Bogo medical staff will take their oaths as regular government employees on Wednesday, Aug. 26. / CDF
