
DANAO City in northern Cebu marked its 64th Charter Anniversary on Saturday, June 7, 2025, with events honoring outstanding citizens and a public concert.
The City recognized 478 residents in the Garbo sa Danao Awarding Ceremony at the Danao City Civic Center.
The awards celebrated achievements in academics, professional board and bar examinations, sports and taxation.
Governor-elect Pamela Baricuatro was the event’s guest speaker. Her message was read by Councilor and Vice Mayor-elect Ivy Durano.
During the awarding ceremony, Mayor Thomas Mark “Mix” Durano, Vice Mayor and Mayor-elect Nito Durano and Vice Mayor-elect Ivy handed the awards. The Garbo sa Danao is a traditional part of the City’s Charter Day celebration.
A free Bisrock concert was held in the evening at the Durano-Macapagal Boardwalk. The concert featured the bands Missing Filemon and Interstate. Vice Mayor Nito sponsored the event as a gesture of thanks to Danawanons.
The anniversary celebration extends throughout June with activities including sports tournaments, community caravans and talent showcases.
This year’s celebration follows the theme, “Danao City is More Than Ready: Kalambuan Mu-Sidlak, Here and Now.” City officials said the theme reflects Danao’s current progress and future direction.
