DR. RHOEL Dejaño, a renowned sports medicine doctor in Cebu, is now the chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission (CCSC).
He was appointed by Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia to lead the agency responsible for overseeing the sports programs of the Cebu City Government.
Dejaño received his appointment last Feb. 24, replacing John Pages as CCSC chief.
Although Pages, who served as chairman since 2022, stepped down from the position, he will remain with the CCSC as a commissioner.
“I am deeply honored and grateful for the trust and confidence that Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has placed in me by appointing me as chairman of the Cebu City Sports Commission,” said Dejaño.
As CCSC chairman, Dejaño aims to expand the city’s sports programs while building on the achievements of his predecessor.
“It is with great enthusiasm that I accept this responsibility, and I am excited to contribute to the continued growth of sports in our vibrant city. I would like to extend my heartfelt appreciation to my predecessor, Mr. John Pages, for his remarkable leadership over the past years,” he said.
In line with his new role, Dejaño has already outlined his first major projects for the city.
These include the Cebu Sports Summit and the PWD Athletes Classification Workshop, both scheduled for the coming months.
“I hope to live up to the expectations of our beloved mayor and work together with all stakeholders to continue developing and improving sports in Cebu. Thank you once again for this incredible opportunity,” added Dejaño.
Dejaño is well-known in the Cebu sports community for his exceptional physical therapy and medical assistance to injured collegiate and professional athletes.
He is recognized for his dedication and genuine desire to help athletes recover and return to peak performance.
For his contributions, he has received awards from the Sportswriters Association of Cebu (SAC), including “Sportsman of the Year.” / JBM
