THE Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) is exploring the possibility of providing rental housing support to eligible beneficiaries of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s Pambansang Pabahay para sa Pilipino (4PH) program.
Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling stated that the DHSUD is open to all viable methods to enhance the inclusivity and sustainability of the 4PH initiative.
“We must exhaust all feasible modalities under 4PH. The more schemes available for our kababayans (fellow Filipinos), depending on the need and their capacity, the better,” Aliling said in a news release on Sunday, June 1.
“Currently, we are studying rental housing among the modalities under 4PH,” he added.
The department is considering families in the lower income brackets as potential recipients of this support.
Aliling, who assumed his post on Monday, May 26, succeeding Jose Rizalino Acuzar, also announced a recalibration of the 4PH program. This change will incorporate horizontal developments, similar to subdivision housing projects.
Following this announcement, Raemulan Lands Inc., a prominent developer of socialized housing, committed to building 35,656 housing units over the next two years.
Previously, the 4PH program concentrated solely on vertical, or condominium-style, developments.
Guidelines for integrating horizontal developments into the 4PH program are now being developed by the DHSUD central office. / PNA
