
THIS year, the Doña Modesta S. Gaisano Foundation is giving scholarships to 20 Senior High School graduates who excelled from various schools and universities in Cebu.
As a college fund, each of the 20 Gaisano scholars will receive P100,000. The foundation has allocated P2,000,000 annually for this one of the biggest and longest-running scholarship grants in the country, which is now in its 62nd year. The Gaisano matriarch's offspring Don Stephen S. Gaisano, Victor Gaisano, and Don Henry S. Gaisano established the foundation.
The benefited schools/universities are as follows: Colegio de Inmaculada Concepcion, Saint Theresa's College, University of San Jose-Recoletos, University of San Carlos, University of the Visayas, University of Southern Philippines, University of the Philippines Cebu, Abellana National High School, Cebu Institute of Technology, Cebu Eastern College, Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu, Cebu City Don Carlos A. Gothong Memorial High School, Philippine Christian Gospel School, Don Bosco Technology Center Inc., Seminario Mayor de San Carlos (Faculty of Theology), University of Cebu and Bethany Christian School.
The foundation is now managed by the younger Gaisanos: Benito Gaisano, Chairman; Stephen Gaisano, Jr., President; Alex Gaisano, Chief Executive Officer; Peter Gaisano, Edmund Gaisano, Jack Gaisano, Edward Gaisano, John Gaisano Jr., Hans Gaisano and Sally Gaisano as foundation’s Board of Directors.
