IN AN effort to revive the enthusiasm for Eskrima not only in Cebu but throughout the country, local arnis enthusiasts have formed a group that would help promote the said sport.
A modest launching of the Doce Pares, Inc. was held by its officers at the 4th floor of the 99 RCA Car Repair Bldg., Sergio Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City.
Simultaneous with the launch was the swearing-in of the elected officers before their guests.
Supreme Grand Master (SGM) Armulfo “Dodong” Cuesta was elected president of the association, while foreign Grandmaster Steve Wolk is the vice president.
Other officers include Cesar Tabobo, corporate secretary; Gerard Rubsiana, treasurer; John Marquez, auditor; Alberto Alonto, PRO; Joseph Canete and Neon Arcilla, sergeants-at-arms.
At the same time, these officers will also serve as the Board of Directors.
It is expected that this year, Doce Pares, Inc. will finalize its plans for upcoming activities.
It is not yet certain whether the revival of the World Eskrima Kali Arnis competition, founded by the late SGM Dionisio Canete, is included in their plans. / JBM
