ESNETH Domingo hit a snag in his rising career after suffering a lopsided unanimous decision loss to Jukiya Iimura in their rematch on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan.
Iimura avenged his previous defeat to Domingo and retained his Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) flyweight title.
Japanese judges Katsuhiko Nakamura and Koji Tanaka both scored the bout 117-111, while Filipino judge Jerrold Tomeldan scored it closer at 115-113.
Domingo dropped to 21-3 with 13 knockouts, while Iimura improved to 9-1 with two knockouts.
Prior to the fight, Domingo was closing in on a world title shot. He was already ranked No. 4 by the International Boxing Federation (IBF), but this loss will most likely negatively impact his standing in the rankings.
Domingo and Iimura first fought in 2022 in Tokyo, where Domingo stopped Iimura in the sixth round of a scheduled eight-round contest. / EKA
