OFFICIALS from the Department of Public Works and Highways’ (DPWH) regional office in Central Visayas met with Cordova Mayor Cesar “Didoy” Suan and Vice Mayor Boyet Tago on Saturday, July 19, 2025, to discuss the construction of a seawall that will serve as protection for the roro (roll-on/roll-off) port.
The project is seen as a proactive move to safeguard vital infrastructure, buildings and the overall well-being of Cordova residents.
Suan emphasized the seawall’s importance in reducing potential damage and enhancing the town’s disaster resilience.
“This seawall project serves as a vital infrastructure in mitigating the risk of storm surges. Thus, this is a necessary step in fortifying disaster resilience in Cordova as our coastal areas face challenges from extreme weather conditions posing serious damages to lives and properties in our locality,” he said during the meeting.
The project, with a total cost of P97,019,888, will be undertaken by Quirante Construction Corp.
