A DRUG den in a barangay previously declared as drug-cleared was dismantled by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cebu Provincial Office, resulting in the arrest of three individuals.

The anti-illegal drug operation was conducted by the PDEA-Cebu Provincial Office in coordination with the Borbon Municipal Police Station in Barangay Lugo, Borbon town, at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

According to PDEA 7 Director Joel Plaza, the primary target of the operation was alias Joey, 42, the alleged maintainer of the drug den who also resides in the area.

Also arrested were two individuals caught inside the drug den allegedly in the act of using shabu: alias Nestor, 52, a resident of Yati, Liloan town, and alias Ian, 21, a networking business agent from Borbon, Cebu.

PDEA personnel seized six sachets of shabu weighing 17.12 grams, with an estimated market value of P116,416.

Also confiscated were the buy-bust money, a cellphone used for the illegal transaction, and other drug paraphernalia, now in the custody of the PDEA 7 Regional Office Laboratory for proper disposition.

PDEA 7 Information Officer Liea Alcantara said the drug den had been under case buildup for three weeks after the agency received a tip from a trusted source.

Based on PDEA’s investigation, alias Joey allegedly sells 15 to 20 grams of shabu weekly to his clients.

Alcantara emphasized that even in barangays declared drug-cleared, PDEA 7 continues its monitoring and validation of reports involving a resurgence of illegal drug activities.

Cases are being prepared against the suspects, with Alcantara noting that those caught maintaining a drug den face the severest penalty under the law—life imprisonment. (AYB)
