A HIGH-VALUE individual was killed after resisting arrest during a buy-bust conducted by police in Sitio Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City, around 2:50 p.m. Thursday, January 23, 2025.
The suspect, identified as Fredo Juntong, a resident of the area, was fatally shot after engaging in a confrontation with authorities.
Investigation by Waterfront Police Station 3 of the Cebu City Police Office revealed that after handing over a sachet of shabu to Juntong, the suspect realized he was transacting with a police officer.
Juntong pushed the officer and fled to his house.
Pursued by the police, he ran to the third floor of his residence, retrieved a firearm, and attempted to shoot at the officers, but his gun misfired.
Realizing he was being cornered, Juntong tried to fire at the poseur buyer officer but was shot first, resulting in his death.
Two of his accomplices were also arrested and are now in the custody of Waterfront Police Station.
A medical team was called to the scene, but Juntong was declared dead upon examination.
Authorities recovered several sachets of shabu, which are still being examined by investigators. (AYB)
