A 65-YEAR-OLD woman died after being hit by a motorcycle as she crossed the national highway in Barangay Daantabogon, Tabogon town, northern Cebu, around 7 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023.

The victim was identified as Josefina Garcia, of Daantabogon.

Roland Aroa, a 45-year-old municipal employee, from Sitio Ylaya, Barangay Taba-ao, Tabogon, was the motorcycle’s driver.

A preliminary investigation by the Tabogon police, led by Police Captain Florencio Cabanlit, revealed that Aroa, who was on his way to work, slowed down when he saw Garcia cross the street, but the victim hesitated, causing Aroa to keep going and hit Garcia in the middle of the road as she also started walking again.

Garcia was rushed to the Bogo City Provincial Hospital, where she was declared dead on arrival by her attending physician, while Aroa sustained minor injuries and is now under the police custody. (DVG, TPT)
