TRANSMISSION wheeling rates, or the fees collected by the National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) for delivering electricity, went down by 0.27 percent in the May 2025 billing period, but rates for ancillary services rose by 9.29 percent.
In a statement sent, from P0.4605 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) in April, transmission wheeling rates dropped to P0.4593/kWh, or a decrease of P0.0012/kWh.
Ancillary services rates, on the other hand, increased from P0.5175/kWh in April to P0.5655/kWh in May, or a hike of P0.0480/kWh.
“As a pass-through cost, AS rates are only collected by NGCP and remitted directly to generation companies,” the NGCP said.
Ancillary services, or support services used to balance and stabilize the grid during power supply-demand imbalances, are sourced from the AS reserve market or from providers with bilateral contracts with NGCP.
The overall average transmission rate for the May 2025 billing period, reflected in the electricity bills of end consumers this June, stands at P1.1482/kWh—up by 4.60 percent from April’s P1.0978/kWh. / KOC
