SO President Rodrigo Duterte mostly stuck to his script during his State of the Nation Address (Sona) last Monday, and no cuss words were uttered. But that wasn’t the only “plot twist” in the Sona and Filipino celebrities enjoyed it like a hit Hollywood film.
The plot twist being referred to was former president, now Rep. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (Pampanga, 2nd district), replacing Rep. Pantaleon Alvarez (Davao del Norte, 1st district) as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
“Aaand she’s back. With a vengeance,” tweeted actress Agot Isidro. “Just like that, folks. Aminin ninyo, marupok tayo (Admit it, we’re weak).”
Isidro is one of the most outspoken celebrities and a known critic of Duterte.
“CGMA (Congresswoman GMA) in the House Speaker seat for the Sona after everything that has happened... did not see that coming,” tweeted TV host Bianca Gonzalez.
“Taray! May plot twist ang Sona. Yung love life natin wala! Uwian na! (Sassy! Sona has a plot twist. My love life doesn’t. Time to go home!)” joked actress Alessandra de Rossi.
