PH rom-com series 'Hoy, Love You' launches 2nd season

IT APPEARED that the bonding and the jovial atmosphere on the set of the series “Hoy, Love You!” was extended to the recent virtual media conference. The occasion showed how close and at ease the cast members have become with each other.

The mediacon was held to signal the start of “Hoy, Love You! Two,” the Filipino romantic-comedy series’ second season on Sept. 11 at iWantTFC.

The date also marks the last episode of Season 1 on the Kapamilya Channel, A2Z and Kapamilya Online Live on ABS-CBN Entertainment and YouTube channel and Facebook page and iWantTFC.

The entire cast was present including the leads Joross Gamboa and Roxanne Guinoo-Yap, Dominic Ochoa, Karina Bautista, Aljon Mendoza, Carmi Martin, Keanna Reeves, Hasna Cabral, Pepe Herrera, TJ Valderrama, Yamyam Gucong and new additions Ritz Azul, Brenna Garcia and Lou Veloso.

The second season will show how Joross (Jules) and Roxanne (Marge) deal with more serious problems with their step kids and in-laws.

Both director Theodore Boborol (Direk Ted) and the cast were surprised that the weekly sitcom was given a second season being in the comedy genre.

Direk Ted said there is no formula in the Joross-Roxanne tandem. He’s just “lucky that the two are good actors” and that their fan base remained intact despite the passing of the years.

Roxanne said the rapport, respect and friendship between her and Joross is a big factor. She described Joross as respectful and a gentleman. She admitted conferring with her husband and child on showbiz matters that non-actors find hard to understand.

Joross said that with the passing of the years, both have become more professional. He credited the beautiful material which gives the actors the chance to collaborate with the director, the staff and co-stars as vital factors. He also said that in Season 2, he applied some method acting and adding some weight was part of it.

Direk Ted revealed that Joross brainstormed with the production staff on some scenes in Season 2. He added that the cast are proactive.

The cast agreed that the locked-in taping made them closer and they felt like a real family. Direk Ted also added that the arrangement was advantageous because no one arrived late for the shoot.

Lou, as the most senior among the cast, admires the young cast members for being good actors. He believes that the series will help drive away worries and depression among viewers in the time of pandemic.

Dominic said the series merely follows ABS-CBN’s bosses’ thrust to provide service to Filipinos and, in this instance, happiness under the present situation. He further hoped that the network will finally be given a new franchise soon.

Carmi, Keanna and Lou agreed that the locked-in taping served another purpose, that is, providing the cast a vacation of sorts. Pepe, TJ and Yamyam were one in saying that there is no downtime off camera as the cast engage in “fun conversations and singing.”

Everyone attributed to ABS-CBN executive Linggit Tan-Marasigan their closeness with each other, and most especially to God, by organizing a prayer meeting for everyone involved in the project.
