AN ex-convict was found dead from multiple gunshot wounds in Barangay Pajac, Lapu-Lapu City, with motives linked to drugs.

Lapu-Lapu City Police Office (LCPO) spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Christian Torres told reporters on Monday, March 10, 2025, that the 44-year-old man’s body was found at the boundary of Barangays Pajac and Basak on Saturday afternoon.

Based on the police report, authorities discovered the victim lying on the ground with blood scattered beside his head. He showed no signs of life.

At the time of his death, he was wearing a black jacket, military-style cargo shorts, rubber shoes, and blue socks.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) from LCPO recovered six fired cartridge cases and two fired bullets from the scene.

The victim, identified by his brother, was originally from Tuburan, Cebu. He had been imprisoned in 2013 for weapons and drug-related charges and had only been released from the provincial jail in February.

Torres said authorities are backtracking to investigate one of the key areas of interest: the victim’s potential connections to the local drug trade, particularly after his release from jail.

He explained that, based on initial findings, the victim had no known relatives or acquaintances in Lapu-Lapu City, where his body was found.

“Wala gyud kwarta, bisan piso. Mao na atong nahibul-an, ngano naabot siya didto. Usa siguro, basin gitukoy na siya, nya gipaanha siya sa mga drug personalities nga involved gihapon sa drugs, then possible wala siya ka-remit. Mao na’y usa ka motibo nga gitan-aw,” said Torres.

Personnel from Police Station 2, where the incident was reported, also reviewed all available CCTV footage from the area to identify the assailant involved in the shooting incident. (DPC)
