STYLE, sentiment and womanhood take center stage in the theatrical production

“Love, Loss and What I Wore,” set to be staged this Aug. 16 and 17, 2025, 8 p.m. at the Grand Ballroom of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu.

Based on the best-selling book by Ilene Beckerman, the play was adapted by sisters Nora and Delia Ephron — acclaimed pillars of Broadway and film.

“Love, Loss and What I Wore” was officially announced during a press conference held July 30, 2025 at Marco Polo Plaza, where the production was described as an artistic showcase and a journey through emotional storytelling.

The play marks the full-length directorial debut of Charlene Virlouvet, expected to bring a full range of emotions to the audience.

A seasoned theater performer now stepping into the director’s chair, Virlouvet sets the stage in a living room-style setup — evoking the comfort and experience of a woman’s everyday life.

“This isn’t just about clothes,” Virlouvet shared. “It’s about the stories we wear every day — the heartaches, the dreams, the fears that women face.”

The production features an all-female cast of 15, each selected for their emotional depth and authenticity.

The cast includes: Aleah Alerre Lim, Andi Pateña-Matheu, Anya Lim, Elaine Bathan, Gingging Navarro-Laude, Liana San Diego, Mikee Amasgila, Regal Oliva, Regina Binuenza, Sarah Mae Enclona-Henderson, Shanice Kae Suarez, Shifrah Bouchikhi-Enclona, Vanessa Fe and Victoria Leslie Ingram.

Though rooted in the experiences of American women, the cast believes the message resonates universally.

“Pain and love don’t discriminate. We’ve all experienced loss, love, and living. That’s why anyone can relate,” said Enclona-Henderson.

From closet to heart, “Love, Loss and What I Wore” is a play that blends laughter, tears, and reflection. Each outfit carries a story — and this production is ready to be seen and felt by all. / JESSON J. MORATA
