
A 20-year-old father faces theft charges after security apprehended him for allegedly stealing chocolates from a supermarket. The man, identified only as “John Lloyd,” claims poverty drove him to commit the act, as he needed money to buy milk for his child.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Monday, May 19, 2025, at a supermarket located on N. Bacalso Avenue in Barangay Pahina Central.
A customer assistant and security guards apprehended “John Lloyd” after observing him place items inside his backpack without paying.
During the investigation by Carbon Police, “John Lloyd” admitted to the theft. He told authorities he committed the crime due to extreme hardship. He reportedly planned to sell the stolen chocolates so that he could use the money to buy milk for his child.
Authorities recovered from the suspect approximately 40 chocolate bars valued at P5,680.
“John Lloyd,” a resident of Riverside, Barangay Banawa, remains in police custody. He awaits the filing of formal charges. / JDG
