FB post claims woman abducted in Talamban; investigation ongoing

THE Talamban Police Station has launched an investigation following a social media post by Adriel Yap, claiming that a woman was abducted outside the University of San Carlos across from Family Park Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2025.

According to the post, a 20-year-old woman was waiting to board a Beep bus when a white car with the plate number CBK 4066 suddenly stopped, and two masked men forcibly took her.

Despite the victim's screams for help, no one reportedly intervened, and the car sped off toward Cabancalan, Mandaue City.

Police Major Alvino Enguito, chief of the Talamban police station, said they were immediately alerted by the social media report and ordered an investigation.

However, security guards and bystanders in the area did not confirm the alleged incident, and the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage from the location is being examined for further clues.

"Ato na nga gipasusi didto pero ang mga tawo didto wala man maka bantay nga nay ingun ana nga estorya. Atoa na pud gipang subay ang mga CCTV camera kung duna bay gyuy kasikas didto," said Enguito.

(We've already checked the area, but no one noticed anything unusual. We are following up on the CCTV footage to verify the claims.)

Police also tried to contact Yap, but Enguito said the social media user had already deleted his post.

He said they managed to take a screenshot of Yap s post, though, and it could help them trace the plate number to determine the authenticity of the claim. (AYB)
