A stroke of luck turned into a major opportunity for 23-year-old student James Angelo, who won ₱500,000 from a Scratchit ticket on May 24, 2025.

The Plaridel native purchased two tickets at Waltermart Plaridel without expecting much. To his surprise, one of them revealed the top prize.

“I’m really happy. I didn’t expect to win this much,” James said. “I’ll use the money to start a business. It would be a waste if I just spent it carelessly.”

Although he’s still a student and not a frequent Scratchit player, James showed impressive foresight and maturity. Instead of splurging on short-term pleasures, he immediately decided to invest the money in a small business, a step he hopes will provide long-term financial security.

Even after his big win, James continued to enjoy playing Scratchit. “It’s really fun and exciting,” he shared. “But you still have to practice control. Enjoy, but don’t overdo it.”

He also offered some advice to fellow Scratchit players: “Play until you win,” he said. “But don’t let it become a habit you can’t manage. Play responsibly and in moderation.”

Grateful for his unexpected stroke of luck, James expressed his appreciation to Scratchit. “Thank you to Scratchit. With just one scratch, there’s already a chance for something better,” he said.

Now focused on putting his winnings to good use, James is determined to build a brighter future, proof that with a bit of luck, a clear plan, and the right mindset, anything is possible.
