McDonald’s Philippines is entering a new chapter of growth and commitment as McDonald’s Corporation grants a fresh 20-year license to Dr. George T. Yang and Kenneth S. Yang. This new term reinforces the long-standing partnership that has brought the iconic Golden Arches to generations of Filipinos, setting the stage for continued expansion and innovation in the years ahead.

Through the Golden Arches Development Corporation (GADC), Dr. George T. Yang and Kenneth Yang continue to serve as the master franchise holders of McDonald’s in the Philippines. Since opening its first branch more than four decades ago, the brand has grown to become one of the country’s most recognizable and trusted names in the quick-service restaurant industry.

As of 2024, McDonald’s Philippines operates 792 stores across the country, with 65 of those openings recorded in the past year alone. In 2025, the brand is expected to open its 800th store—marking another major milestone in its local journey.

Every new McDonald’s store that opens serves as a beacon for local communities, signaling market readiness, and generating 80 to 100 jobs. Today, McDonald’s has a workforce of over 65,000-strong, with approximately 58,000 Filipinos working as directly-hired crew, majority of which are working students–no contractualization here.

McDonald’s expansion underscores McDonald’s vital role in supporting nation building through job creation, particularly for young Filipinos and entry-level workers, while supporting livelihoods and career growth across all regions in the country.

Known for quality service and a modern environment, McDonald’s Philippines continues to evolve to meet the changing tastes and needs of customers. Recent product improvements were made for its McCafé offerings, iconic burger range (Big Mac, Quarter Pounder and Cheeseburger) and local favorite Chicken McDo. The company has also strengthened its omnichannel approach, now with 70% of its stores equipped with drive-thru, catering to the fast-paced lifestyles of Filipinos.

Already ranked among the top 10 McDonald’s markets in the world in terms of number of restaurants, the Philippines remains a key growth area for the global mega brand. The new licensing agreement aims to sustain this momentum in the Philippines, by delivering more feel-good moments, deeper community engagement, and further operational excellence in the next 20 years.

Aiming to light the way to brighter possibilities, emphasizing its focus on shared moments of connection and meaningful impact. This mission reflects McDonald’s ongoing pledge to bring people together—whether through a meal, a job opportunity, or a space to make memories.

As the company continues to grow, its leadership remains steadfast in its dedication to customer satisfaction, innovation, and community-building, making the Golden Arches a symbol of progress and optimism for future generations of Filipinos. (SPONSORED CONTENT)
