MEGAWORLD Hotels and Resorts is breaking down barriers as the hospitality brand opened its 12th homegrown hotel and third Belmont property on the island of Mactan on December 16, 2022, in time for the holiday festivities.

Despite the current pandemic and the threats of economic instability, Megaworld is committed to improving the province's business development and tourism industry through Belmont Hotel Mactan.

With general manager Johnson Del Valle at the helm, the property is bound to prosper as the new player in the Mactan Newton Township brings in something fresh to the Cebuano market and helps sustain businesses within its community and the neighboring area.

Following in his father's footsteps, who worked as an associate for a cruise ship liner, Del Valle always knew that he wanted to be part of the service industry. Like his old man, he joined the cruise industry during his early 20s doing odd jobs.

Del Valle’s experience with the cruise industry taught him the principles of giving value to small and big tasks and contributing to the team effort. From waiting tables and bartending to handling outlets, all at the of 26 years old, Del Valle slowly started carving his name in the hospitality industry.

“It’s more than just a job; hospitality is in my blood. I started young in this industry and always knew that serving others was my calling,” shares Del Valle. A big chunk of Del Valle’s experience started with food and beverage, working behind the bar, and enjoying meeting different people from every walk of life.

Today, Del Valle carries two decades of local and international hospitality experience, where he has risen through the ranks before earning his role in the management team of Belmont Hotel Mactan.

“Now, working at Belmont Hotel Mactan with Megaworld Hotels and Resorts, one of the best memorable experiences I have had is working with my pre-opening team. Everyone has a unique story to tell, and I’ve seen every individual’s dedication and passion for work,” says Del Valle on spearheading a lean management team.

When it comes to his leadership style, Del Valle’s primary goal is to drive change and make things better. He further explains that he aims to touch and transform lives and experiences while creating opportunities for everyone.

“I’d say that this task becomes more manageable working with Cebuanos in our team. For someone like me who may not exactly be from Cebu, I’ve noticed that Cebuanos have an innate drive to prove themselves while they remain patient, humble, and happy,” Del Valle adds.

To ensure that the property and its dedicated employees are ready to thrive in the new normal, Del Valle and his team plan to establish a service culture that embraces change in unfathomable circumstances. “With our people-first philosophy, we aim to build confidence and trust in our associates so our guests know they can depend on our people as they accomplish their goals while staying at the metro,” he explains.

Other than a set of hardworking people working towards the success of Belmont Hotel Mactan, the property itself also boasts authentic Cebuano elements and Filipino hospitality in every aspect that many business travelers can call it home away from home.

Guests will be greeted upon entering the hotel by incredible artworks that illustrate the notable history of the beautiful island of Mactan in the main lobby, from the striking image of Datu Lapu-Lapu to the unique representation of coral reefs.

As the first Megaworld property to fully embrace and capture the local culture of where it stands, Belmont Hotel Mactan continues to showcase Cebuano pieces in all of its 550 rooms.

Each room category, from the superior deluxe and deluxe premier to the junior suite, has headboards representing Cebu’s weaving industry, well-known delicacies, idyllic tourist spots, and the famous Sinulog Festival. The rooms also feature hotel-quality orthopedic beds under layers of 400-thread count bedding for a more comfortable stay.

To add to the hotel's remarkable features, the property takes pride in its active area, where guests can stay on top of their game. Within the vicinity is a swimming pool for adults and kids, a fitness center equipped with treadmills, free weights, and other muscle-strengthening machines, and separate female and male locker rooms complete with individual wet and dry saunas.

As for guests who mean business, Belmont Hotel Mactan houses a pre-function or lounge area, a meeting room, and four well-appointed function rooms that are fitted with state-of-the-art audio-visual facilities like projectors, screens, and a surround sound system.

For the foodie folks who want to devour Belmont Hotel Mactan’s menu offerings, the hotel has three dining outlets sure to satiate all cravings. Zabana Bar and Lounge is where guests can ease through the day by enjoying a glass or two of their favorite cocktail, wine, or beer with a plate of short orders.

Belmont Café also serves Filipino and continental cuisines for breakfast and all-day dining options if guests are looking for a heavier and more satisfying meal. To end a long and tiring day, guests can head to the Float Bar at the pool deck for an exquisite night of cocktail drinks and refreshing beverages.

Belmont Hotel Mactan is an exciting addition to Megaworld Hotels and Resorts’ growing hospitality chain. To celebrate its soft opening, the hotel offers an overnight rate of only P3,998 for its superior deluxe rooms with breakfast for two.
